John Basile

John Basile has performed and recorded throughout the US and Europe in a diverse variety of settings. A recent Heritage performing artist, John's jazz guitar style uses a finger style technique that approaches the guitar like a piano. Comping chord fragments and playing melodies simultaneously provide a backdrop for a more open and "in the moment" style of improvising. John believes that the harmonic aspect of the guitar has not been explored to its full potential and strives to exploit this area in all live performance and educational settings.

"I'm a huge fan of the Sweet 16 as the comfortability of its size (16") and the playability of the neck allows me complete freedom to concentrate totally on the music".

John also appreciates quality of the workmanship and the attention to detail that Heritage puts into the selection of woods. "Each part of my Sweet 16 - neck, body, bridge, tailpiece, represents the highest quality woods available".

"In today’s market it's rare to find this kind of uncompromising Custom-made quality and value in an instrument" .

John Basile's latest release is on the Chesky label, "The Desmond Project" (Chesky 156), features selections associated with the great alto saxophonist Paul Desmond.
