Doug Simon

Doug Simon began playing guitar at the age of sixteen and is entirely self-taught. He came up being influenced by early recordings of Kenny Burrell, Wes Montgomery and George Benson as well as the funk hierarchy in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio. He quickly became part of the jazz and funk scene and was asked to play and record with most of the hot groups and players including Satch of the Ohio Players. During a stint with fellow guitarist Wilbert Longmire, Doug was offered and accepted the position of guitarist for legendary jazz organist Brother Jack McDuff, a job once held by his idol George Benson. Doug recorded for Capitol Records with the funk group Dayton. He is the former guitarist for A&M recording star Vesta Williams. His playing has been heard on nationally aired commercials and jingles. His guitar work (featured solos and background parts) has been showcased on the international CBS hit soap opera The Young And The Restless.
