Delbert Walling


Delbert Walling has been playing guitar for 35 years. He began by playing rhythm guitar backing up his father as he played popular melodies from Hank Williams to The Ventures.

He joined his first rock band, Mother Head, at the age of 13, playing songs by such bands as Cream, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Canned Heat, and The Chambers Brothers. He toured Europe in 1972 in a folk duo. In the mid 70s he played in the popular group, Crosswind, traveling throughout Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.

Delbert studied with guitar great George Barnes in the early 70s. In 1979 he graduated from The Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, California, where he studied with Howard Roberts, Don Mock, Joe Diorio, Ron Eschete, and Howard Alden.

Since the early 80s Delbert has had a teaching studio and has done studio work for radio commercials, television commercials, and corporate videos for such clients as Archway, Dolly Madison, McDonalds, and Whitmark. He performed at the Whirlpool Corporation International Convention, which was telecast in Asia, Europe, North American and South America.

Throughout the 80s and 90s he played in a variety of groups ranging from pop to jazz. Currently he is performing weekly in a guitar duo and trio playing a wide variety of music.
