David Paul

David Paul, one of the best finger style guitarists in the world, bar none, is now taking the finger style world by storm. With three releases in the past year and a half, a boxed set DVD/CD called Deal Me In, which promises to be one of the greatest finger style guitar recordings of original pieces, since the great Chet Atkins, about to be released. On top of all that David now has a new Signature Model Guitar by the great Heritage Guitar Company. Believe me folks; this immense talent can no longer be contained in the Northeast.

David Paul has been influenced by the master himself, Chet Atkins, who has been David's idol since he first heard Chet's album “Guitar Genius" at the age of nine. David will refresh your ears with a similar kind of finger style playing as Chet, using the master’s colors but with a different hue. The more you listen to David on CD, DVD, or especially in live concerts, the more you’ll hear David’s interpretations through his marvelous finger style playing. We fingerpickers just love to hear and try to imitate it. You will hear the difference between Chet and David in the way they put their licks together. What fascinates most people about David’s playing, is his writing, arranging, and producing everything himself to make the recordings come alive, and his originals sound so much like Chet, but yet they aren’t. He’s everything rolled into one, and his music really comes to life with his new Signature Model Guitar from Heritage. For anyone who wants to play and sound like David Paul, you need the right tool - the Heritage Signature Model Guitar – it truly is as remarkable as the artist himself. Its beauty and sound will take your imagination to the stars.

In his original pieces, the melodies and arrangements convey emotions we all share. Part of David Paul's unique sound is his inhibitions in combining various styles of guitar music. His current innovations involve the combination of blues guitar with traditional finger style guitar. David Paul’s innovations don’t stop with the blues. He has on occasion incorporated some classical guitar licks and styling into his pieces. The creative genius of David Paul never rests, what’s coming next none of us knows, but one thing is certain, its bound to be entertaining and beautiful.

While David Paul's recordings are thoroughly enjoyable, a live performance is exceptional. David has a style and flair on stage that totally enhances his music. Like a dramatic actor there’s no sitting on stool and just playing for him.  He interacts with the audience drawing them into his love of finger style guitar music. David’s flair for the dramatic includes overhead videos providing visual interpretations of his music. All of the effects have a common goal – to highlight and enhance his music.

David Paul's amazing finger picking skill was immediately apparent to Colonel Rendal Wall, who brought it to the attention of Heritage Guitar owners, Jim Deurloo, Marvin Lamb, JP Moats, and Bill Paige. They were so impressed that they selected David Paul for their next Signature Model Guitar. This hand crafted beauty, which is truly the “Stradivarius “of guitars, is beyond description. It will rival or better any guitar in its class. David Paul’s ideas, with the creative genius of Heritage, have created something that will be as entertaining as it is beautiful for all guitar players, from novice to professional.

David has toured from the mid-west to the east coast, and will be starting his extensive 2005 concert tour at the NAMM Show in California. Most of us fingerpickers will never reach the level of Chet Atkins or David Paul, but we are sure going to keep on trying to play what we hear for our own enjoyment and peace of mind. Everybody has a laughing place, and for most of us, it’s our guitar setting and playing like our heroes, and David is fast becoming one of our new guitar heroes, in a world that has few left. A new era has begun and it starts with the David Paul Signature Model Guitar by Heritage. Play and just listen.
